The world’s thinnest sustainable food paper

Food paper is a very common product, with which they are packaged, meat, cold cuts and cheeses from the supermarket counter. This specific food paper, also known as polyethylene paper, is usually composed of coextruded cellulose and the addition of a polyethylene (PE) film, which serves as a functional barrier for contact with food.

The compostable solution was found thanks to the collaboration between the company Matech of Padua and A.R.T. Cart S.p.A. of Moggio Udinese, is a bioplastic film, consisting of a biopolymer replacement of polyethylene and only 12 microns thick.
